Starting March 6th, 2026, logging in to canvas.jhu.edu will look a bit different for students, faculty and staff. Instructure, the vendor providing the Canvas learning management system, is making updates to the login experience.
Access to Canvas will not be impacted, and your login process, username, and password will not change.
What is Changing?
1. Navigate to canvas.jhu.edu and click the JHU Login button.
2. An Instructure Canvas LMS screen will display with text reading “Redirecting”.
3. Then, you will automatically be directed to the Johns Hopkins Sign In screen where you log in with your JHED ID and Password (same as before).
4. An Instructure Canvas LMS screen will display with text reading “Checking your session…”.
5. Once that is complete, you’re logged in!
